Job Description: Middle School Art Teacher
Job Summary:
The Middle School Art teacher is responsible for providing instruction and guidance in various art disciplines to middle school students in grades 56. This role requires a deep understanding of art history techniques and creative expression as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Fine Arts Art Education or a related field is required. A Masters degree in Art Education or a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Teaching Certification: Possess a valid teaching certification in Art Education (EX).
- Teaching Experience: Prior experience teaching art to middle school students is highly desirable.
- Expertise in Art: Strong knowledge of various art forms art history artistic techniques and contemporary art trends.
- Creativity and Passion: Demonstrated passion for art and the ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their creative potential.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively explain complex artistic concepts and provide constructive feedback to students.
- Classroom Management: Strong classroom management skills to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to plan and organize art lessons materials and exhibitions effectively.
- Technology Skills: Proficiency in using artrelated software digital media and other technological tools in art education and/or a willingness to learn.
- Collaboration: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues administrators and community members to enhance the overall art program and student experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive art curriculum aligned with State and National Core standards ensuring a balance of theory technique and creativity.
- Plan and conduct engaging art lessons that cater to students varying skill levels interests and learning styles.
- Teach students various art forms which may include drawing painting sculpture and other forms of visual arts.
- Provide demonstrations and handson guidance to help students develop their artistic skills and techniques.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity critical thinking and selfexpression.
- Provide constructive feedback and evaluate student artwork to track progress and offer guidance for improvement.
- Organize and supervise art exhibitions displays and events to showcase students work and promote artistic appreciation within the school and community.
- Collaborate with other district art teachers.
- Stay up to date with current trends techniques and advancements in the field of art education through professional development opportunities.
- Maintain a safe and orderly art classroom ensuring proper use and maintenance of art supplies equipment and technology.
- Other Duties as assigned: (ex. lunchroom supervision academic intervention etc.)
Terms:
- 0.8 FTE
- This position follows the terms and benefits outlined in the Northview Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Evaluated annually by the building administration.
