Summary of Duties:
Perform multiple skilled duties in relation to the maintenance of 75 acres of institution grounds and landscapes and 35 miles of sidewalks. Coordinate and work with other trades and crafts in support of new or remodel construction. Lead apprentices or helpers as assigned. Duties include sprinkler installation and maintenance snow removal improvement projects and general cleanup. Operate motor vehicles and grounds equipment as needed.
Required Qualifications:
High school or equivalent and at least two (2) years experience working with youth gardening or in grounds maintenance; OR equivalent education/experience.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Possession of or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire a current Public Pesticide Applicators license.
Minimum of 1 year experience with repair and maintenance of sprinkler system operations.
Demonstrated experience operating equipment; e.g. skid steer compact tractor.
Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
Ability to respond to emergencies outside normal business hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating power and motorized equipment such as weed trimmers chain saws leaf blowers hedge trimmers power pruners edgers small trucks lawn mowers hedge trimmers small frontend loaders and snow blowers.
Ability to clean service and make repairs to tools and equipment.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3167 to $4194 Range 36 (Steps AM) Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 35728
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.
