Reports to: Director Finance
Work Model: Hybrid
Hours: 37.5
Status: Temporary Full Time (contract until September 30 2026

Position Summary

As an important member of the finance team this position is responsible for financial analysis and general accounting as well as specific responsibilities around accounting for fixed assets cash investments scholarships and bursaries and other areas as assigned.

Duties

  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports
  • Perform department invoice and reconciliation
  • Perform analysis on a daily basis to identify trends and potential issues and provide proactive resolutions rather than a reactive resolution.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports in compliance with accounting standards
  • Prepare intercompany schedules and reconcile with related parties
  • Ability to identify and understand any financial discrepancies and correct them in a timely manner
  • Provides support to clients in interpreting and understanding financial and/or statistical requirements
  • Support team members within the department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • University degree in Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Accounting or equivalent
  • 35 years of relevant experience in accounting
  • Experience in a postsecondary institution or not for profit environment would be an asset  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly detailoriented able to maintain accuracy under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS office suites including Word and Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving knowledge and skills required to draft possible solutions
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong administrative skills
