Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Mississippi teaching certificate
  2. A minimum of five years prior job experience in teaching counseling and/or administration
  3. Prior job experience in coaching preferred
  4. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the School Board

REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics

JOB GOALS: To assist the Director of Athletics with the following duties as assigned:

  1. Meets all professional conduct standards as set byMS Educator Code of EthicsStandards of Conduct
  2. Organizes and administers the overall program of extracurricular athletics both intramural and interscholastic for the district.
  3. Provides leadership in the selection assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
  4. Fosters good schoolcommunity relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic events.
  5. Assumes responsibility for the organization and schedule all interscholastic athletic events.
  6. Hires officials team physicians and policeman as required and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.
  7. Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants.
  8. Arranges provision for meals for athletes and coaches when opponent is 60 miles or more from a district boundary line.
  9. Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
  10. Verifies each athletes eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport.
  11. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget.
  12. Requisitions program supplies and equipment.
  13. Supervises all ticket sales and fundraising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds.
  14. Arranges all details of visiting teams needs including lodging meals towels gymnasium services and field assistance as appropriate.
  15. Decides for school use of playing fields and facilities.
  16. Arranges field and gym practices schedules.
  17. Provides for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season.
  18. Administer the insurance program covering school athletes and assumes responsibility for all processing of reports and claims.
  19. Keeps records of the results of all junior and senior high school athletic contests and maintains a record file of all award winners stating the date and type of award including athletic scholarships.
  20. Directs an inschool extracurricular program designed to foster support for athletic teams and school spirit among nonparticipants.
  21. Plans and supervises an annual recognition program for school athletes.
  22. Submits items for Board review and attends Board meetings when appropriate.
  23. Follows all board policies and procedures
  24. Maintains regular attendance and is punctual
  25. Promotes the districts vision mission and goals
  26. Performs any other duties as outlined by the Superintendent
