Job Description

TITLE: Food Service Clerk

LOCATION: Stowe

HOURS: 7:451:45 5.75 hours

PAY:$16.54/ hour

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:


Required Education and Experience:

  1. A valid drivers license or the ability to travel within the district as requested.
  2. Computational skills in money handling and completing reports.

Desired Education and Experience:

  1. High School diploma HiSET or GED
  2. School Nutrition Association Membership and Certification
  3. Previous cashiering experience in school food service or other food production facility or equivalent work experience in cashiering accounting and/or record keeping.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to cope with time pressure.
  2. Ability to organize own time and tasks.
  3. Ability to effectively use computerbased systems.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assist with the operation of the total multiunit food service operation in compliance with federal and state regulations relating to Child Nutrition Programs. Collect payment and enter data into computer as students and staff move through line. Accountable for all meals. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the food and nutrition services department..

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist in the kitchen with daily production tasks including cooking breakfast and other food items.
2. Backup support in the absence of a head cook including cooking.
3. Complete daily records accurately including production records.
4. Demonstrate the knowledge of reimbursable meals and snacks.
5. Operate the PointofSale system daily to close each production day.
6. Check patrons through the line at serving time for reimbursable meals and charging accounts as needed.
7. Count money and prepare bank deposit daily.
8. Carry out clerking policies and procedures as established by Food & Nutrition Department.
9. Assist with cleaning at the end of the day in accordance with district and department guidelines.
10. Refill and clean fruit and vegetable bars between service lines.
11. Maintain all food safety and sanitation standards.
12. Maintain annual U.S.D.A professional standards requirements.
13. Read communications from all district stakeholders.

  1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.
  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mostly indoors with frequency in extremes of temperature/humidity

  • 12month Calendar: Fulltime employee has been working for 12 months prior to the job posting date. 230 day & Academic Calendar Fulltime and Parttime Employee: Working for said term (230 day or Academic Calendar) prior to the job posting date and has been an employee since September 30 of the current school year.
  • Employees must be through the probationary period AND meet the Bid Criteria Lateral/Promotion for NonLead Positions prior to the job posting. Exception: Employees in the food service department ONLY may transfer at any time without an adjusted probationary period.
  • Meet all posted qualifications of the position.
  • Attendance sick leave standard is as follows:

o Employees must have ten (10) days or fewer of family/personal sick leave.

o Sick leave will be calculated based on the 12 previous months from the posting date for all employees.

o Authorized Unpaid Leave of Absences will not be taken off the record for this purpose of the bid process.

o All authorized FMLA leave (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record for this

purpose of the bid process.

o All authorized Workers Comp (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record for this purpose of the bid process.

  • Employees must not have any no call/no show incidents during the past 12 months from the posting date.
  • Employees must not have any unauthorized time during the past 12 months from the posting date.
  • Employees must be in an active paid status from the beginning of the posting.

o exceptions will be considered by the Director of Personnel.

  • Evaluation:composite score of meets or better on the most recent evaluation

o All staff must have one evaluation on file.

o If no evaluation is on file by the end of the previous academic year it will be considered

a meets evaluation.

  • Discipline:no formal discipline during the past 12 months from the posting date for all employees.
  • Seniority:if two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications the employee with the greater seniority within the department or classification (depending on the position) will be given first consideration. Exceptions regarding department or classification seniority will be considered by the Director of Personnel.
