POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Preschool Teacher has the primary responsibility to support the Preschool teacher and classroom in the promotion the social emotional physical approaches to learning and cognitive development of each child in a safe and supervised educational environment. And works daily with children parents and coworkers in an effective safe and developmentally appropriate approach for early childhood programs by performing the following duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates respect for the capabilities backgrounds and cultural differences of families children coworkers and the public consistent with trauma informed practices regardless of race color religion or disability
Follows the agencies cultural competencies and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethical Conduct
Develops and maintains respectful relationships with families and children to ensures the daily needs of children are met through responsive care giving practices
Supports the implementation of the curriculum that complies with state regulatory guidelines and Center for Human Services (CHS) policies and procedures
Help the preschool teacher to develop both individual and group lesson plans that reflect parent input and cultural relevance and which promotes the learning domains the supports the curriculum.
Follows a consistent schedule which includes small and large group experiences free play music and movement large and small motor activities skill development routine care family style meals and effective transitions between activities using principles supporting a highquality environment for preschool age students.
Ensures ratios are always met
In consultation with supervisor develops own professional development goals and coaching/training plans and actively pursues those goals
Ensures ongoing communication with parents through Procare phone calls home visits conferences distribution of newsletters flyers and other information to families as instructed by supervisor.
Ensures all files are complete accurate organized and confidentially maintained and that a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio for each child that include weekly observations examples of the childs work child assessment and childs individual goals are kept up to date.
Organizes and assists with parent meetings activities and parent conferences.
Collaborates with the Sedalia 200 school district as needed for children with disabilities
Provides nonsupervisory oversite of support staff subs and new staff in reference to daily classroom management such as but not limited to lesson plans implementation classroom schedules room arrangements and classroom safety
Completes training as stated by CHS policy HRDP022 Training
Responsible for promoting a positive Safety Culture is expected and necessary to make CHS a safe place in which to work. Safe work practices and policies for this position shall be reviewed and followed

Maintains Knowledge of health and safety standards and procedures
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Attends meetings and completes trainings as required by CHS and/or state licensing
Must attend continuing training classes designed to broaden professionalism education and skill involving child care and child development as required by State regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION
High school diploma or general education degree (GED/HiSET)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of UKG platform state licensing standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must provide proof of valid drivers license and personal vehicle insurance
Medical exam and TB Assessment is required prior to hire and again every 5 years
Background screening to include fingerprinting is required prior to hire and again every 5 years
