As a Roadway Maintenance Inspector I specializing in Auxiliary Structures you will play a pivotal role in inspecting assessing and guiding infrastructurerelated inquiries.
Your responsibilities may encompass:
- Field Inspection of inquiries from citizens counselors and other sources for deficiencies in auxiliary structures to identify safety concerns investigate root cause of issues determine appropriate repair methods and execute work according to the Citys priority matrix
- Proper documentation is followed through the 311 notification process from receipt of complaint to repair completion as well as any email correspondence related to inquiries
- Use technology to document assess and investigate Auxiliary assets
- Routed inspection of existing auxiliary assets new auxiliary assets and completed work locations
- Condition assessment of auxiliary assets based on inspection rating standards
- Execution of onsite minor repairs as appropriate
- Coordination and documentation of First Calls and scheduling of ground disturbance work
- Coordination of OSCAM permitting for Auxiliary work where required
- Validation of asset compliance with specifications drawings and relevant blueprints
- Update and maintenance of the Auxiliary Asset Inventory list and inspection records
- Working independently
- Driving and walking to various locations
- Completion of Grade 12 or a GED
- 3 years progressively responsible experience in the area of auxiliary structures including experience in graffiti abatement chain link stairs and wooden fence guardrail and deterrent post repair
- Experience with Auxiliary field inspections ground disturbance and first calls
- Experience mentoring and training employees
- Proficiency in computer and tablet related work including SAP SAP mobility ArcGIS fieldMAPS databases and Google Applications
Assets:
- Scheduling or planning software experience
Skills required for success:
- Knowledge of standard methods materials tools and equipment used in Auxiliary Structures and of the relevant occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Knowledge of Auxiliary Structures repair and restoration methods utilized by city crews
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform the work assigned to this position
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions including maintaining records
- Good conflict resolution skills including good written and verbal communication skills when dealing with public concerns counselor inquiries and other external communications

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
