Job Description

As a French Dutch and Englishspeaking materials engineer you probably know better than anyone how a single unnoticed flaw in a composite structure can silently degrade system integrityuntil its too late. When youre working with nuclear thermal or renewable power plants failure is not an option.

Success of Engineering Projects mostly relies on key individuals demonstrating Intrapreneurial Leadership and the best way to develop these skills is through handson consulting rolesworking alongside established intrapreneurs in international companies contributing to managing stakeholders engagement workflows reliability or solutions sustainability.

Join AETHER to support Intrapreneurial Projects as a Senior NonMetallic Materials Consultant:

The scope here is to improve plant reliability and material performance by solving complex nonmetallic material issues and conducting advanced field and labbased investigations.

The Key responsibilities expected from our consultant might include:

Support projects through highquality and detailoriented execution ensuring accuracy and meeting expectations.

Solve problems related to nonmetallic materials in power plants (composites coatings elastomers electrical insulating materials etc.).
Analyze and prevent damage determine lifespan of components and analyze failure cases in the field.
Develop technical knowledge through handson fieldwork and training.
Study and research nonmetallic materials for new energy solutions.
Conceptualize and carry out longerterm research and innovation projects close to the enduser market.
Advise customers with practical recommendations to increase process quality plant reliability and lifetime.
Prepare and write technical reports with recommendations.
Contribute to collaborative research projects with external partners (research institutes universities key ENGIE partners).
Grow expertise by continuous learning.

Support projects with rational and datadriven assessments regarding costs quality and timelines providing objective analyses for decisionmaking.

Identify and focus on failure and root cause analyses.
Evaluate results from lab analysis and field studies.
Diagnose issues in field cases and propose corrective actions.
Examine degradation mechanisms and mechanical property testing.
Review findings and validate technical conclusions.

Support projects by facilitating communication and reporting between stakeholders.

Coordinate field interventions and required lab analysis.
Act as the single point of contact for the customer defining the scope of interventions.
Present reports and recommendations to the customer.
Collaborate across different departments and with various customers both nationally and internationally.
Communicate with external partners and support teamwork within Laborelec and ENGIE.
Engage and inform customers ensuring their needs and expectations are met.

The experience we are actively looking for:

Masters or PhD in materials engineering materials science or chemistry
Proven expertise in nonmetallic materials such as composites coatings elastomers
Handson experience with polymer/composite testing FRP piping or structures
Knowledge of analytical techniques: FTIR SEMEDX DSC TGA etc.
Familiarity with degradation mechanisms and mechanical property testing
NACE CIP or FROSIO inspector certification is a plus
Onshore/offshore certification is an advantage
Strong field communication and analytical skills pragmatic and realistic mindset
Willingness to travel (including internationally and to nuclear sites)
Ethical mindset and strong safety culture
Fluent in Dutch French and Englishor willing to become fluent quickly
Valid driving license
Nuclear clearance is a plus
Valid work and residence permits for Belgium (mandatory for nonEU candidates)
Immediate availability and presence in Belgium are preferred
