The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing lactation consultation and education for breastfeeding mothers at Alta Bates Medical Center regardless of age race religion ability and economic or social status.The Lactation Consultant has excellent assessment and implementation skills to assist the breastfeeding mother attain her individual goals.
Job Description:
EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree in Nursing Required
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
RNRegistered Nurse of California Required
CLECertified Lactation Educator upon hire Required
IBCLCInternational Board Certified Lactation Consultant within 2 years of employment Required
BLSBasic Life Support Healthcare Provider Required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years experience in perinatal nursing or perinatal education. Minimum two years experience counseling breastfeeding women.
Experience supporting breastfeeding in NICU preferred
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Excellent communication skills
Excellent maternal/infant assessment skills
Ability to effectively prioritize work responsibilities
Excellent documentation skills
Effective teaching skills

Pay Range is $82.95 to $109.48 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidates experience education skills licensure and certifications department equity training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
