Job Description
Position Criteria:
- Valid Iowa Teaching License
- Endorsement in Health Occupations General Health Occupations or ability to obtain CTE licensure in Health Occupations
- Three or more years of outside work experience in nursing or health care related field indicating ability to teachconcurrentenrolled health occupation courses
Performance Criteria:
- Willingness to create simultaneous changes in curriculum instruction assessment and reporting practices in a standardsbased environment.
- Understanding of the developmental nature of the high school learner and demonstrated ability to support growth of the whole child in a positive manner.
- Understanding of authentic learning and engagement including Iowa Cores Universal Constructs the foundation of Waukee APEX professional skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility high levels of motivation and enthusiasm when working with high school learners.
- Facilitate studentdriven learning by playing the role of a learning coach and manager not a dispenser of knowledge.
- Facilitate inquirybased learning through authentic pedagogy like professionalbased learning and learning by design.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity in all areas reserve judgment and maintain an open mind (i.e. the curriculum is never completed always changing) in a fastpaced environment.
- Manage mentors and integrate their work directly into APEX curriculum.
- Collaborate with business partners to perform continuous curriculum enhancement and refinement.
- Coteach with an external expert from the field of study.
- Work with the high school counseling department and content areas to ensure student transitions are seamless.
- Develop and utilize formative and summative authentic assessments including use of standardsbased assessment and reporting.
- Codesign dynamic authentic relevant rigorous curriculum that meets district college and state standards while mirroring the actual business environment.
- Collaborate with otherinstructors of aspiring professionals to produce integrated projects and opportunities across the curriculum strands.
- Involve parents and communities in supporting student learning.
- Provide ongoing communication with families and the community.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning.
- Act as a liaison to communicate and support other colleagues in the K12 system to promote relevant and authentic learning.
