Job Description

Job Summary:

The Office of Admissions Operations and Systems is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Assistant to join our team. This position will provide valuable experience in customer service and data entry. You will be part of a vibrant and collaborative environment where your contributions are not only valued but celebrated! As a student assistant youll work closely with passionate and experienced professionals who are enthusiastic about education and student success. Whether youre greeting guests answering phones or handling inquiries youll have a blast while making a real impact!

Admissions requirements application processes and deadlines.
Navigating the admissions database.
Conducting an informative and engaging campus tour.

Majors That Would Benefit
All majors are welcome to apply but this position will provide relatable skills for the following majors:

Business Administration: Gain experience in customer service communication and organizational skills.
Communication Studies: Enhance public speaking interpersonal communication and outreach abilities.
Education: Learn about the admissions process student interactions and educational outreach.
Social Sciences: Improve communication skills and understand diverse perspectives through interactions with prospective students.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Under direct supervision duties include but not limited to:

Assist prospective students with their CSUSB application and admissions inquiries via phone or in person.
Schedule appointments for students to see Admissions Counselors.
Take in and write receipts for student documents such as transcripts test scores and residency information.
Assist with all Admissions and Student Recruitment programs events and off campus visits.
Conduct campus tours to individuals and groups
Perform general office activities such as typing operating office machines processing mail or securing confidential materials.
Attend college fairs representing CSUSB for the recruitment of prospective students to the university
Conduct admissions presentations to K12 students wishing to learn more about higher education requirements etc.
Participate in call campaigns
Perform other duties as assigned by office manager(s) for the overall function of the office and/or institution of CSUSB.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty staff and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have fulltime enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.50 per hour (Determined by Federal Work Study)

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: PartTime Temporary Seasonal

The application deadline is: 6/16/2025 at 11:55 pm (PST)

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am 5:30 pm).

This is an OnCampus Only position. Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.

As of January 1 2022 the CSU OutofState Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSUrelated work outside the state of California.

Conditions of Employment

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Drivers License Check

Possession of a valid Drivers License may be required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid drivers license and reflects driving record.
