Job Description: Assistant Tykes Teacher Responsibilities: Teaching and interacting with the children in the Spanish language exposing them to songs finger plays music and dance in Spanish. Conducting daily supervision of childrens activities and conducting daily inspection of environment. Practicing developmentally appropriate techniques and assisting with implementing the lesson plans. Working together with the Lead Teacher to maintain an orderly and clean learning environment (this includes taking out the trash; proper sanitizing of tables counters bathrooms and toys; and organizing drawers cabinets and shelves). Assisting the children during snack and mealtimes modeling polite manners. Assisting children with personal hygiene which may include diaper changing pottytraining or cleaning a child and helping him/her to change clothes in the event of an accident. Utilizing Conscious Discipline strategies to promote cooperation constructive problem solving and academic success in the classroom. Engaging children in a playful learning environment both indoors and outdoors (outdoor playtime consists of two scheduled 45minute periods each day); Preparing crafts and activities for and participating in special events and celebrations such as Easter and Da de los Muertos. Helping out in other parts of the school. Attending ongoing staff development activities including our evening monthly staff meeting and maintaining required level of training hours (at present 24 hours annually from start of employment current CPR & First Aid certification annual child abuse training; other requirements apply for caregivers with less than two years of experience in a licensed child care center in Texas) with documentation. Additional training may be required by the Director based on identified needs/deficiencies of the teacher.
