This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn a singleconfiguration heavylift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to lowEarth orbit geostationary transfer orbit cislunar and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be humancapable.We are a diverse team of collaborators doers and problem solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers you will work on the design analysis development and qualification of pressurized liquid and gas systems on a reusable launch vehicle in extreme environments from cryogenic to hot gas temperatures. You will share the teams impact on all aspects of detailed mechanical design requirements layouts analysis component selection modeling drafting manufacturing and test definition. To be successful in this position you will have proven skills in mechanical design fluid/thermal analysis structural analysis material selection manufacturing processes engineering release component/system development testing and vendor management.
We are looking for someone at a level III or Senior engineer level to apply their technical expertise leadership skills and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsible for the integration and installation of engines and MID/FWD/AFT module fluids systems
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering aerospace engineering or equivalent
- 5 years of proven experience in the design of aerospace fluid or mechanical systems (Senior Career)
- Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze pressurized systems and secondary structures (ANSYS preferred)
- Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Proven understanding of fluid components such as valves tubing and pressurized hardware
- Ability to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Solid understanding of fabrication integration processes and quality control techniques relevant to tubes machined components and welded hardware.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in mechanical engineering aerospace engineering or equivalent
- Experience designing systems with Hydrogen Oxygen and Methane in liquid and/or gaseous states
- Experience in system layout or component design for launch vehicles or ground cryogenic and pressure systems
- Experience with thermofluid solver applications Thermal Desktop (Sinda Fluint) AFT (Fathom/Arrow) Excelbased models REFPROP
- Proven understanding of materials properties and treatments; preference for aerospace materials
- Handson experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systems
- Experience in all phases of integrating routed fluid systems inground base or flight vehicle applications
- Experience in engineering analysis/support for disposition of NonConformance (NC) related to fluid components machined parts weldments and electromechanical assemblies
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $117498.00$164497.20Other site ranges may differ
