Building Principal / Curriculum Coordinator
over Libraries
SUPERVISES:
Students and others assigned to help in the library
JOB GOAL:
To provide supervise and coordinate the elementary
school library
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
the Boards policy onEvaluation of Classified Personnel
Responsibilities:
*Be able to use technology and other instructional equipment
and show others how to do so
*Work with children individually and in small or large groups
to develop a climate of encouraging children to have an
appreciation of reading both printed and online text
*Plan usage of online and technology based programs
*Finding appropriate free educational apps to coincide with
their curriculum by grade level
*Implement online and technology based programs with
students
*Teaching basic technology skills such as turning on/off
reinforcing proper handling & care of iPads and appropriate
skills per grade level
*Maintain deep knowledge of basic technology skills
*Perform basic problem solving skills to resolve basic
technology problems
*Supervise large and small groups of students
*Supervise circulation of all library resources
*Work with children individually and in groups in developing
library skills. Aid students searching for information both
printed and online and instruct them in proper use of library resources
*Coordinate library volunteers; assist in the selection and
training of volunteer aides
*Maintain library collection through consultation with the staff
Principal certificated Librarian and the Curriculum Coordinator
over libraries.
*Plan and administer the operation of the library so it is run in
an efficient and organized manner
*Work as a member of the district library committee and make
suggestions on how to improve the librarys operations.
*Provide inservice programs for students staff and volunteers
*Help teachers find library resources which correlate with State
standards and instructional units.
*Coordinate the selection organization and distribution of
materials and equipment within the school
*Develop a climate that encourages students and teachers to take
advantage of the library and its resources using effective
communication
*Introduce children to books and stories through book talks
storytelling poetry drama flannel board presentations
music and oral reading
*Develop propose and justify library budget requests
with the Principal
*Work as a part of a cooperative team
*Preparing and transporting materials for each school as needed
*Travel to different elementary schools to perform the above duties
*Occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids
*Occasional interaction among unruly children
*Participate in each schools guidelines discipline policies
and rules: emergency procedures etc.
*Comply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies
and procedures
*Perform other duties as directed
