Department Summary

The Housing and Residential Education staff at the University of Denver provides housing and support services for 2800 students living within University housing. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Residential Education the Incident Response Coordinator is a liveon position responsible for overseeing the oncall response to campus incidents providing supervision and guidance to staff during oncall shifts daily monitoring of incident reports and following up on incidents reviewing and updating response protocols and ensuring staff and student wellbeing. This position collaterally serves as a Student Support Advisor with Student Outreach and Support and Case Administrator with Student Rights and Responsibilities. The Incident Response Coordinator directly supervises 2025 Community Assistants (student staff positions). This position involves collaborating with campus partners addressing incidents in a timely and effective manner and promoting a safe and supportive campus environment.

Essential Functions

OnCall Oversight

  • Oversee the oncampus residential incident response system ensuring oncall staff are prepared and properly equipped to handle emergencies or situations requiring immediate attention.
  • Supervise and support 2025 oncall staff providing guidance and assistance.
  • Ensure effective coordination with other campus departments (e.g. Campus Safety Health & Counseling Center Facilities Management Student Rights & Responsibilities Student Outreach & Support etc.) in response to incidents.
  • Coordinate oncall coverage for fall winter spring and summer quarters for student and professional staff.

Incidents Wellness and WellBeing

  • Conduct timely reviews of incident reports followups on incidents ensuring appropriate documentation resolution and reporting including escalation to senior leadership when appropriate.
  • Serve in an administratoroncall rotation responding to incidents and potential policy violations.
  • Investigate and assess the effectiveness of responses to incidents and recommend improvements to procedures.
  • Liaise with students staff and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate support is provided after incidents.
  • Serve as a conflict mediator.
  • Serve as a Case Administrator with Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRR) including break periods.
  • Serve as a Student Support Advisor with Student Outreach and Support including break periods.
  • Participate on the CARE team.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents responses follow ups and any actions taken.
  • Provide regular reports on incident trends response effectiveness and recommendations for changes to leadership.
  • Perform regular wellness and wellbeing checkins with students and with oncall staff to ensure their mental and physical health offering support and resources as needed.
  • Ensure that staff have access to necessary debriefing and mental health resources after particularly challenging or traumatic incidents.

Policy and Procedure

  • Regularly review update and enhance incident response protocols to ensure alignment with best practices effectiveness and safety.
  • Develop and implement new policies and response protocols to address evolving needs ensuring clarity and consistency.

Training and Development

  • Assist with development of training & logistics including inservices.
  • Provide training to staff on incident response protocols wellness strategies and best practices for maintaining a safe campus.
  • Lead debriefing sessions with staff to discuss incidents and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director for Recruitment & Development in creating and facilitating relevant training and development for Community Assistants.

Departmental

  • Assist in the departmental training of professional and student staff
  • Develop working relationships with key campus partners including but not limited to: Department of Campus Safety Student Rights and Responsibilities Office of the Vice Chancellor Fraternity and Sorority Life Student Outreach and Support Health and Counseling Center and other Universityrelated services
  • Attend events and programs sponsored by the department and/or the Division of Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence including those that periodically occur on weekends and evenings
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problemsolving and criticalthinking abilities.
  • Ability to create and implement procedures and protocols.
  • Familiarity with campus safety legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Capacity for managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Sensitivity to student and staff wellbeing and mental health considerations.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree with one (1) year of crisis emergency response or oncall experience.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience management or elevated leadership/volunteer experience.
  • Strong knowledge of incident response protocols safety procedures and crisis management techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in highpressure situations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree or certification in Social Work Emergency Management Human Services Psychology or a related social science field or twothree years of experience in incident management crisis response or related fields preferably in a college or university setting.
  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Emergency Management Psychology or a related social science field.
  • 2 years of supervisory or management experience
  • 2 years of experience in incident management crisis response or related fields preferably in a college or university setting.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule

Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 4:30 nights and weekends.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for the position is $22.00 $24.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
