Job Description Summary

AAM is searching for a Production Coordinator to join our team! This position will be based out of our Oxford Forge facility in Oxford MI.

As a Production Coordinator you will oversee daily operations across 8 production lines ensuring that safety quality and productivity standards are consistently met. Leading a team of approximately 78 production associatesincluding 3 shift supervisorsthis role is critical in driving operational excellence through production oversight changeover tracking process improvement 5S implementation tool organization and employee training and development.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills in a manufacturing and forging environment with advanced proficiency of ERP/MES systems (Plex preferred) along with experience in leading changeovers and 5S initiatives.

  • Lead a team of shift supervisors and production associates across 8 lines.

  • Ensure production goals align with plant safety quality and output expectations.

  • Analyze top downtime issues using Plex data and floor observations.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to develop and implement standardized changeover processes.

  • Review and communicate daily critical production metrics.

  • Ensure daily weekly and monthly 5S tasks are executed consistently.

  • Implement and manage an individual toolbox system for each production cell.

  • Oversee monthly quarterly and annual audits of toolboxes at both individual and line levels.

  • Partner with HR to design and maintain a structured career growth system and training program.

  • Track associate training certifications and skill assessments in coordination with HR and supervisors.

  • Mentor team leads and associates to develop technical capabilities and leadership skills.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing 5S and Changeover practices.

  • Proficiency using MES/ERP systems.
