Job Description
Scot JCB Group have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee IT Engineer to join our team in Glasgow.
This role would suit someone looking to develop their IT career in a busy and growing team with a passion for providing excellent service. The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in an IT role or a relevant IT qualification.
Hours: Monday Friday 8.30am 5pm based at our Dennistoun office.

The Scot JCB Group is made up of Scot JCB Scot Agri Stewart Plant Sales and SIA Compressors & Generators.
Scot JCB has been supplying and servicing JCB machinery throughout Scotland and the North of England for over 60 years. We sold our first machine in 1956 and have grown into a highly specialised machinery distribution company operating through a network of 15 depots from Fraserburgh in the North East of Scotland to Carnforth in Lancashire. Scot JCB is the largest JCB distributor in the UK and we pride ourselves on providing our customers with world class service.
Key Duties
- Handle 1st Line IT tickets.
- Set up new employees accounts and hardware.
- Software installation.
- Deactivate exemployees accounts and manage hardware recovery/reset.
- Develop IT knowledge articles and user guides for IT applications.
- Weekly stock checks.
- Manage device repairs.

Responsibilities
Effective Technology
- Allocate IT helpdesk tickets to the appropriate member of the IT dept within department SLAs.
- Resolve 1st Line support tickets within department SLAs.
Reliable Technology
- Ensure new employees have appropriate software accounts set up and provided to line manager 3 days before joining.
- Ensure new employees equipment is set up and delivered to dept arriving 3 days before joining.
- Ensure employees leaving the business are deactivated from all accounts the day after they leave.
- Ensure devices assigned to leavers are returned to the IT dept for reassignment no later than 10 working days after leaving.
Secure
Technology
- Assist with patching/updating employee endpoints.
- Assist with remediations detected by SOC or Senior IT Engineer.
Innovative
Technology
- Participate in IT improvement projects and change requests.
- Keep knowledge up to date on latest advances in technology.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 1 year of experience in an IT role or a relevant IT qualification
- Good knowledge of Windows 10 and Office applications
- A basic understanding of IT networks cloud technology and computer security
- Good understanding of modern hardware including pcs thin clients mobile devices and network infrastructure
- Ability to relate to nonIT staff in a productive way
- Strong problemsolving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Driven to learn and grow a career in IT
