Job Title:Medical Laboratory Scientist Microbiology (Day Shift)
Location:Charlottesville VA
Compensation: $27.84 $44.54 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Schedule:Day Shift FullTime
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detailoriented and dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
to join our Microbiology Department
in Charlottesville VA. This dayshift position plays a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients through the performance of microbiological testing procedures. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills maintain highquality standards and work collaboratively in a fastpaced laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform microbiological testing including culture setup organism identification and susceptibility testing following established protocols.
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to established procedures.
Accurately record and report test results to physicians and healthcare providers in a timely manner.
Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintain documentation in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
Work effectively as part of a team to support laboratory operations and patient care initiatives.
Comply with all infection prevention safety and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
MLS/MLT 1 (Clinical Lab Scientist 1):Education:
Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a NAACLSaccredited program
OR Bachelors Degree in Biology Chemistry or a related science field
Experience:
No prior laboratory experience
Certification:
ASCP or equivalent certification required within 24 months of hire
Education (one of the following):
Bachelors Degree with completion of a NAACLSaccredited MLS/CLS program
OR Masters/PhD in Biology Chemistry or related science
OR Bachelors in Biology Chemistry or related science with 3 years
of clinical lab experienceOR Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a NAACLSaccredited program with 4 years
of clinical lab experience
Certification:
ASCP or equivalent certification required within 24 months of hire
