Supervisor: Building Principal
Salary Range: QEA Salary Schedule
Conditions of work: 180 days/1FTE
SUMMARY:
A ML teacher fosters a system of support for multilingual learners;
provides supplemental language development instruction; facilitates the development or revision of curriculum and instructional materials; establishes effective rapport with students to motivate and develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Designs and implements lesson plans to provide supplemental language development instruction and support for a variety of levels of language learners.
Assesses students to determine eligibility for TBIP services.
Is available to students and parents for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day.
Directs student teachers paraeducators tutors and volunteers when such personnel are
utilized.
Attends or participates in all required staff meetings committees team building field trips
and other activities (may include overnight stay) deemed necessary by the District and/or building principal in order to accomplish the objectives of the position and for professional achievement.
Participates in a variety of activities to enhance personal and professional skills.
Maintains compliant program documentation and complete required reporting
Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills demonstrated ability to keep
confidentiality and show initiative when appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal Program Director or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently have or will have by the start date a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an ELL or Bilingual endorsement required.
Knowledge of the WIDA English Lanugage Development Standards Framework andability to have effective instructional techniques for multilingual learners
Proficiency in reading writing and oral communications.
Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
Establish and maintain effective positive communication and working relationships with
students parents or guardians staff and administrators.
Designing and implementing lesson plans for students having a wide range of achievement.
Ability to deal with students in a positive and confident manner; be fair and consistent when working with a culturally racially and economically diverse student population; adapt to change and remain flexible; organize activities; manage student behavior; use good judgment to maintain a safe learning environment; provide instruction and demonstrate techniques.
Sets and maintains high expectations of students.
Ability to gain respect and confidence of students and community through the modeling of
appropriate behavior methods and attire.
Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
