  • Employee has strong communication skills which are essential to the work of an advocate. They express oneself clearly and effectively when speaking and writing. Employee practices active listening by facilitating twoway communication and ensures that information is understood by all parties. They share information in a timely manner using the most appropriate method and follows up with individuals requesting additional information referrals or assistance.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to the following):

  1. Provide trauma informed support to residents and their children and assist in maintaining a welcoming safe and supportive community living environment.
  2. Assist with the orientation process and respond to immediate needs of new residents while maintaining professionalism sensitivity and confidentiality at all times.
  3. Conduct safety/security rounds in the building during assigned shift; complete necessary verbal and written reports. Complete logs as required; follow up on safetyrelated issues and concerns and contacts medical police and fire personnel in the event of an emergency.
  4. Assist case managers with the discharge of residents.
  5. Conduct inspections of resident rooms as required according to established protocols.
  6. Distribute necessary items to clients such as clothing toiletries linens cleaning supplies and maintains the related inventory.
  7. Assist with meal preparation and distribution when necessary and perform general housekeeping duties.
  8. Receive sort and distribute resident mail.
  9. Assist the department director in the orientation and training of new staff/volunteers.
  10. Attends staff team program and agency meetings as required.
  11. All other duties as determined by department supervisor.
Requirements

Employment Experience (amount and kind)

  • 1 2 years of experience in social or human services field
  • Experience working with children and their parents preferred

Education (general level required or specific courses)

  • High school diploma or equivalent degree required

Essential Physical Requirements:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.


Other Requirements:

  • Completion of a background check request; FBI State Police and Child Abuse Clearances obtained within required timeframe under Act 153 through agency vendor
  • Completion of 66hour Sexual and Domestic Violence Training provided by agency
  • Valid drivers license and insurance are required to travel to client sites
