Job Description

Salary: $85000 per year

Position Type: Onsite MondayFriday 8:00am4:00pm

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION(S):

  • In conjunction with the director manages the daytoday operations of the department which may include the departments operational programmatic financial and budget activities.
  • Supervises assigned Program(s)/Deputy Director(s) directly and direct support staff indirectly to ensure accountability.
  • Provides counsel and advice to the director regarding department operations.
  • Reviews and analyzes department operations to evaluate the performance of the department and to identify areas of potential program modifications and improvements.
  • Ensures the department adheres to agency goals objectives and strategies.
  • Provides leadership and serves as a mentor coach being a visible and approachable sounding board and resource to management and programs.
  • Assures that programs meet required regulatory standards including but not limited to relevant Federal State and Local standards.
  • Provides oversight of the Department in the absence of the director.
  • Plans assigns and/or supervises the work of others.
  • Assists in the selection of competent staff.
  • Ensures that staff are properly trained on the job.
  • Assists with the supervision and training of adults with intellectual disabilities to promote each individuals growth toward his/her highest potential.
  • Takes necessary action in emergencies following Agency policies and procedures and reports such incidents according to Agency protocols.
  • Develops and writes service funding plans for people served who are being considered for admission to vocational programs.
  • Responsible for the flow of communication to from and between Direct Support Professional Staff management staff other departments agencies professionals and families.
  • Creates and promotes a work environment which encourages recognition communication professional development and teamwork while demonstrating a commitment to Agency Values Mission and Goals.
  • Upholds Agency policy and procedures by conducting staff training and taking personnel action as necessary.
  • Uses crisis intervention techniques in emergencies when people are in danger of injuring themselves or others.
  • Is a positive role model to people served and Agency staff.
  • Uses technology for the completion of specified job duties.
  • Attends work regularly according to the assigned work schedule and in accordance with Agency policy.
  • Attends and participates in inservice training staff meetings and other activities to facilitate professional development.
  • Works cooperatively with others including all staff supervisors administrators coworkers individuals served community professionals customers vendors and the public.
  • Assumes other duties responsibilities and special projects as needed.

SECONDARY FUNCTION(S):

  • May attend Individual Planning meetings.
  • Works cooperatively and effectively with Agency volunteers maximizing the volunteers experience while meeting the needs of individuals served and the programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: A Bachelors Degree from an accredited fouryear college or university with major course work in human services business management or a related field is generally preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Five years working with people with intellectual disabilities of which three years must be progressively responsible supervisory experience. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights holidays and weekends. Must have a car and a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agencys insurance carrier and by Agency policy.

NOTE: At the discretion of the Personnel Officer additional related experience and/or education may be substituted in lieu of the requirements specified above under Education and Experience.
