Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing courtinvolved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

DJJ is currently hiring an Accountant. This position will assist Accounts payable in keying travel and expenditures as well as processing accounts receivables as needed. They will also be responsible for accurately coordinating with the Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE) and Court Service Units (CSUs) on case status and maintenance of turnaround information relating to DJJ cases. Coordinate prepare and submit statewide juvenile facility USDA claims to the Virginia Department of Education. This position will have payroll functions to include processing and calculating employees Sickness and Disability Plan (VSDP) filing payroll data monitoring payroll email box maintaining and updating Payroll Accounts Receivable overpayment spreadsheet and assisting employees and HR staff with payroll related questions.

Please note this is a wage position. This position will work 29 hours or less per week with no benefits.
