As the Underwriting Manager Commercial Property you will lead the growth and profitability of the property portfolio while mentoring and developing a skilled underwriting team. Your responsibilities will include:
Portfolio Management & Profitability:
Oversee the daytoday underwriting of commercial property accounts ensuring alignment with company guidelines and risk appetite.
Monitor the performance of the portfolio making datadriven decisions to ensure sustained profitability and compliance.
Leadership & Team Development:
Provide mentorship coaching and leadership to a team of underwriters and assistants to enhance their technical skills and decisionmaking abilities.
Promote a collaborative and highperforming team culture that aligns with company values.
Broker Relationship Management:
Maintain and build strong relationships with broker partners to support business development and service excellence.
Respond proactively to broker inquiries offering solutions that balance risk with opportunity.
Process Optimization & Innovation:
Identify opportunities to streamline underwriting processes and enhance service delivery through best practices and innovative tools.
Collaborate with senior leadership to refine underwriting strategies and contribute to product development initiatives.
Strategic Contribution:
Act as a key advisor in the development of underwriting guidelines appetite and reinsurance strategy.
Provide insights on market trends and competitor activity to support business planning and market positioning.
To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate the following:
Education & Experience:
A degree in Business Risk Management or a related field is preferred.
510 years of commercial property underwriting experience with proven success in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
Technical Skills:
Advanced knowledge of commercial property underwriting and risk evaluation.
Proficiency with industry platforms and tools such as EPIC Policy Works or equivalent systems.
Key Competencies:
Strong analytical and decisionmaking skills with a detailoriented mindset.
Exceptional communication and relationshipbuilding abilities.
A proactive entrepreneurial approach with a passion for developing others and driving results.
