COORDINATOR OF TEACHING & LEARNING SECONDARY LEVEL

Position Summary:
Leominster Public Schools seeks an experienced and visionary Coordinator of Secondary Teaching & Learning to lead and support the development implementation and continuous improvement of secondary curriculum and instruction. Reporting directly to the Superintendent the Coordinator of Teaching & Learning plays a critical role in advancing highquality academic and career technical programming aligned with district goals and state standards. The successful candidate will foster innovation promote educational equity and collaborate across departments to ensure all secondary studentsespecially Multilingual Learners students with disabilities and other highneeds populationshave access to rigorous and meaningful learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Coordinator of Teaching & Learning provides educational leadership and vision for the Districts secondary curriculum initiatives and instructional practices
- The Coordinator of Teaching & Learning promotes high quality educational programming for all academic and career technical areas and monitors student outcomes to ensure achievement in all areas to assess effectiveness
- Attends all meetings of the School Committee and subcommittees
- Participates in state and regional educational endeavors designed to support career technical education. Including the implementation of NEASC requirements.
- Supervises and evaluates administrative personnel including the Content Specialists and other District employees whom have programmatic oversight
- Shapes agendas and conducts instructional team meetings aimed at providing strategic leadership in curriculum instruction and assessment
- Conducts analyses of State and District testing and prepares reports for stakeholders regarding student performance and recommendations for improvement
- Works with various staff to establish and monitor extra student educational opportunities and programs such as before/after school acceleration classes summer/Saturday school AP classes Early College MCAS SAT/PSAT preparation courses
- Forms and/or attends task forces to address important system wide issues and develops recommendations to the Superintendent.
- Promotes the expansion of the use of technologies in preparation for employment opportunities in the twentyfirst century
- Provides and monitors ongoing curriculum development and professional development opportunities that enhance a learning environment in support of District goals
- Supervises and evaluates team members in the performance of their assigned duties and responsibilities specifically curriculum development professional development staff evaluations student assessment program assessment and goal setting
- Maintains uptodate position descriptions duties and responsibilities as appropriate
- Works with staff members to implement and evaluate instructional programs and to interpret data to improve teaching and learning
- Undertakes all other assignments as directed by the Superintendent.
- Understanding of best practice at the secondary level to include all learners including: supporting Multilingual Learners students with individual education plans high needs
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Education Curriculum & Instruction Educational Leadership or a related field (required)
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Administrator license (required or eligible)
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience at the secondary level
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development instructional strategies and assessment practices
- Strong understanding of best practices for supporting diverse learners including Multilingual Learners and students with disabilities
- Proven ability to analyze and use data to drive instructional improvement and program development
- Experience leading professional development and supervising instructional staff
- Excellent communication collaboration and organizational skills
- Familiarity with NEASC accreditation Early College AP programs and career technical education (preferred)
