Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Tax to join our dynamic team within the veterinary industry. In this pivotal role you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance and planning for our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of tax regulations affecting the veterinary sector and will be adept at managing complex tax challenges. You will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure alignment with corporate strategies while minimizing tax liabilities and fostering financial efficiency. Your expertise will guide the company in navigating the changing landscape of tax laws and regulations ensuring we are wellprepared for audits and maintaining compliance across multiple jurisdictions. In addition to direct oversight of tax functions you will take a proactive role in advising senior leadership on potential tax implications of strategic decisions. As a leader you will mentor and develop a highperforming tax team promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the tax compliance process ensuring accurate and timely filing of all tax returns.

  • Develop and implement proactive tax planning strategies to optimize the companys tax position.

  • Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance and address inquiries.

  • Provide guidance to senior management regarding tax implications of strategic business decisions.

  • Oversee the preparation of tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements.

  • Mentor and develop the tax team fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Tax Department team members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field; advanced degree or CPA preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax planning and compliance with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of federal state and local tax regulations specific to the veterinary or healthcare industry.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful tax strategies.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex tax laws.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills capable of building relationships across the organization.

  • Experience in managing audits and working with external tax professionals.

  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without restrictions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical activity of this position includes:

Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles. Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time. Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward downward or outward. Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from positiontoposition. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. Fingering. Picking pinching typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects such as size shape temperature or texture by touching with skin particularly that of fingertips. Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately loudly or quickly. Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists hands and/or fingers.

The physical requirements of this position are:

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for light work.

The visual acuity requirements including color depth perception and field vision are:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position are:

  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
