This position functions as the Northern Regional Forester for the Forestry Division. The position supervises the District Forester staff in the Region and provides District Foresters with supervisory guidance on all matters related to their position duties; works closely with the State Forester and Program Managers in the delivery of all Forestry Division programs including the Forest Development Act (FDA) FDA CostShare Program Forest Management Planning Timber Buyer Act Forest Marketing and Utilization Forest Health reforestation and afforestation State Forest planning and management of State Forests in the Region and other special Grant Projects that are implemented in the Region. The position is also instrumental in coordinating the Regional delivery of technical forest management services of federal forestry programs administered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) such as the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and the Emergency Forest Restoration Program (EFRP). The position makes recommendations to the State Forester and Program Manager for improvements to service delivery; supervises budget expenditures and implements policies and procedures for the Forestry Division within the Region; and participates in the planning and coordination of statewide and Regional Forestry Division field events and the State Fair.

Charged with preserving protecting and promoting Illinois natural resources the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) employees oversee water wildlife wetlands and oil wells parks historic sites and everything in between. Office of Resource Conservation

The Forestry Division is charged with managing conserving protecting and promoting Illinois approximately 5 million acres of forest resources in both rural and urban areas. The forests of the state provide multiple benefits to all Illionisans including forest products clean water clean air recreational opportunities wildlife habitat fish habitat and the many human health benefits derived from these ecological and economic benefits of the forest. Employment duties include an extremely wide variety of professional forestry positions including direct interactions with private forest landowners to assist them in achieving their forest management goals partnership efforts with related government agencies both state federal and municipal and working in outdoor settings to achieve multiple forest habitat improvement goals.
