THE AGENCY
The General Services Agency (GSA) is comprised of Fleet Services Facilities Procurement Special Services Parks Security and Business Support and is responsible for a broad spectrum of services to all County departments and agencies. It requires a very diverse workforce to accomplish the GSA mission of contributing to the quality of life in Ventura County by partnering with customers to provide expertise and costeffective service delivery and foster the preservation of natural resources.
THE POSITION
Under general supervision repairs services and installs locks and locking devices; repairs and installs all types of automatic electrical and air operated doors; maintains complete locking system record.
The ideal candidate will be highly skilled and knowledgeable about all aspects of locking systems and devices employed in commercial and industrial settings have a minimum of 5 years journey level experience and/or possess certification from a recognized training program and work well with others to ensure customer service standards are met and exceeded.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of journeylevel locksmith experience
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Ability to kneel crouch squat stoop reach twist and lift to accomplish assigned tasks.
Position of and ability to maintain a valid California Driver License.
Must have or obtain clearance to work in Juvenile Justice and Sheriff Jail facilities.
DESIRED:
Currently licensed by the California State Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
Certification from a recognized Locksmith training program.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES
Working knowledge of: methods materials tools practices parts and equipment used in locksmith trade; design construction installation operation adjustment repair rebuilding and maintenance of locks locking devices doors and door closures; principles required to formulate operate and maintain key code systems.
Working ability to: install adjust and repair locks locking devices doors and door closures; fabricate parks and work from specification sketches; estimate labor and material costs set up operate and maintain complete locking systems records.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE qualifying
All applicants are required to complete and submit the questionnaire for this examination at the time of filing. This questionnaire may be used throughout the examination process to assist in determining each applicants qualifications for the position. Failure to complete and submit the questionnaire may result in removal of the application from further consideration.
APPLICATION EVALUATION qualifying:
All applications will be reviewed to determine whether or not the stated requirements are met. Those individuals meeting the stated requirements will be invited to continue to the next step in the examination process.
PRACTICAL EXAMINATION100%: A job related practical examination will be conducted to evaluate and compare participating candidates knowledge skills and abilities as a locksmith. Candidates must earn a score of seventy (70%) percent or higher to qualify for placement on the eligible list.
Candidates successfully completing the examination process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one (1) year.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION:The successful candidate must undergo a background investigations which may include inquiry into past employment education criminal background information and driving record. The successful candidate must have or obtain clearance to work in Juvenile Justice and Sheriff Department facilities.
