About the unit

4 North is a 33bed unit at Butterworth Hospital specializing in orthopedic trauma and burn care. Our team works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary group of professionals including nursing physicians APPs rehab therapists and care managers to provide high quality comprehensive care to our patients. Common diagnoses for our patient population include polytrauma gunshot wounds falls motor vehicle accidents burns and orthopedic complications as a result of a traumatic injury. Our team is focused on creating an inclusive and encouraging culture that aims to meet people where they are supports them in continuous learning challenges them to grow in their practice and celebrates individual and collective accomplishments. Right in the heart of Grand Rapids youll find a nationally recognized hospital for patient quality and safety and the regional leader in fullservice hospitals. Since 1873 we have been growing and building a reputation of excellence in care diagnostics treatment prevention and education. It is the flagship hospital for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals.

Scope of work

Performs receptionist/secretarial duties and maintains confidential records supplies and equipment per hospital and unit specific standards. Greets and directs guests on the unit in a manner that reflects a welcoming environment. Performs computer entry schedules tests/procedures processes orders and performs other related activities per unit/hospital standard within a reasonable time frame.

The Unit Secretary is the go to on each unit for clerical support. Responsibilities include taking phone calls helping with directions to all visitors or outside team members to the unit (lab radiology patient transport nutrition services environmental services) calling support when directed by clinical staff assisting with discharge admit and transfer paperwork ordering supplies ensuring rooms are appropriately stocked answering call lights for any nondirect patient care needs etc.

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of relevant related experience preferred
