Job Description

Job Title: California Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster

Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster with a strong understanding of California regulations and an active SelfInsurance Plan (SIP) certification. This remote role is responsible for managing a full caseload of complex workers compensation claims including indemnity future medical asbestos and hearing loss cases. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment in claim evaluation settlement negotiation and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and determine liability and validity of workers compensation claims
  • Review and manage a caseload of approximately 120 claims including complex and longtail exposures
  • Calculate and balance temporary and permanent disability benefits
  • Establish monitor and adjust reserves as appropriate
  • Communicate with unrepresented claimants to negotiate settlements
  • Assign investigative work as needed and monitor results
  • Calculate compensation rates in compliance with California regulations
  • Oversee medical treatment and ensure appropriateness of care
  • Prepare settlement documents and review court decisions
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with legal and company standards
  • Collaborate with defense counsel on litigated files

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred
  • 5 years of workers compensation claims handling experience specifically in California
  • Current California SelfInsurance Plan (SIP) Certification required
  • Strong understanding of California WC regulations disability calculations and settlement procedures
  • Experience managing a mix of indemnity future medical asbestos and hearing loss claims
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Compensation Package:

  • Compensation: Between $70K$100K (based on experience)
