Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine with more than 1400 Beaumont doctors on faculty.
Scope of Work
The Dosimetrist is a member of the radiation oncology team who has knowledge of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment is cognizant of procedures commonly used in brachytherapy external beam radiation therapy treatments protons and any other additional techniques for the treatment of patients in Radiation Oncology department. The medical dosimetrist is responsible for designing a treatment plan and carrying out calculations with mathematical accuracy for the delivery of radiation treatment based on the radiation oncologists prescribed course of radiation therapy. This treatment plan takes into consideration tumor pathology tumor volume and inherent doselimiting structures surrounding the tumor. Once a treatment plan is complete the medical dosimetrist will work closely with the radiation therapists in the implementation of the prescribed plan. A medical dosimetrist has the education and expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distribution and dose calculations in collaboration with the medical physicist and radiation oncologist. Provides support and assists in simulations quality assurance initiatives billing departmental meetings and the teaching of dosimetry students in the dosimetry program. A Medical Dosimetrist Proton is highly trained specifically to create treatment plans for Proton patients.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelors Degree or equivalent At minimum requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of an associate or bachelors degree in physical or biological sciences or radiation therapy technology.
- Preferred Masters Degree medical dosimetry from a JRCERT accredited program.
- 3 years of relevant experience Minimum 3year clinical experience as a dosimetrist in Radiation Oncology. Required
- Experience as a Radiation Therapist. Preferred
- CRTRadiologic Technologist Registration ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Radiation Therapy preferred
- CRTMedical Dosimetrist MDCB Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board required
- CRTRadiation Therapist ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist preferred
