POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provide engineering program and support to superintendents directs assigned personnel in meeting cost and time schedules verifies materials equipment workmanship and assures results meet design requirements. If designated leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline or a particular area of the site.
Manage and coordinate with field engineering staff on a daily basis to resolve problems and support project management needs. Manage and support turnover activities. Represent construction at project and site related committee meetings. Review national codes / standards and site specifications and procedures. Administration and approval of performance evaluations ranking career development and training of field engineers. Provide design agencies with construction technical input for design development.
Monitor compliance of EPA and South Carolina Waste Management regulations and site specific procedures. Monitor contractors activities and work performance and resolve their concerns through coordination with other SRNS departments. Review and manage the implementation of project design and maintenance activities using existing specification national codes and standards drawings and the latest construction techniques. Interface and coordinate all aspects of construction with design procurement security safety operations health physics quality control scheduling cost management and supervise the daily field engineering activities. Maintain continuity with quality control to ensure work quality meets the requirements. Coordinate with design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new design or design changes. Perform constructability inspections and provide technical expertise for construction methods and practices. Responsible to ensure that construction work is done correctly and completely. Provide leadership continuous improvement guidance reengineers processes builds teaming relationships and safety
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in a technical discipline and 8 10 years of practical experience in construction engineering or related areas. An Associates degree and 10 12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 12 16 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent.
