Job Summary:Is responsible for direct childcare appraisal and followup of caseload. Prepares health care plans for involved students and supervises the implementation of required health care procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Screens students for health defects including height weight vision hearing scoliosis and kindergarten screenings.
- Administers medication and treatment prescribed by physicians and oversees procedures for office staff to administer medications in the absence of the school nurse.
- Conducts parent conferences and maintains liaison between physicians parents and staff.
- Makes recommendations to primary care physician on health needs of individual students.
- Maintains uptodate cumulative health records on all students requiring nursing intervention including immunization records and exemptions for religious and medical reasons.
- Reports to parents school personnel physicians clinics and other agencies on student health matters.
- Assumes authority in the absence of a physician for the care of a student who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.
- Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures and district policies.
- Implements board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
- Conducts training for students related to impairments health and hygiene.
- Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
- Is available to do healthrelated lesson presentations in classrooms.
- Observe professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- License from the State of Arkansas to practice as a Registered Nurse
