As a Speech-Language Pathologist heres a big-picture view of what youll do:

• Provide speech therapy to patients having communication swallowing and cognitive difficulties in facilities such as nursing homes rehab centers assisted living facilities and hospitals
• Work with a team of physicians nurses CNAs PTs and OTs to provide excellent patient care
• Assist physician in evaluation of patients ability to speak swallow and process information
• Conduct patient assessments document progress and ensure patient goals are met
• Assist with mouth breathing and swallowing exercises fluency articulation and reading
• Educate patient and family on therapy goals safety practices and self-care

A few must-haves for Speech-Language Pathologists:

• Masters or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology and active SLP license in Florida.
• Minimum of 2years of speech therapy experience in a medical facility
• CPR certification and AHCA level 2 experience
• Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
• Good clinical judgement critical thinking skills strong communicator empathy and compassion
