Job Description
Job Purpose
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Division of Forensics is seeking a Social Worker or Counselor to provide direct care and case management to patients in a clinic setting. Provide a wide variety of direct social worker services for a complex caseload of patients/clients including psychosocial assessment active treatment case management and related documentation in collaboration with a multidisciplinary forensic/and or treatment team.
Ideal candidate is dedicated energetic and clinically experienced LISW/LPC/PsyD/PhD and Certified First Responder Counselor or equivalent to provide mental health and wellbeing services directly to Charleston area First Responders. This role is focused on First Responder mental health and wellness by providing resilience training clinical interventions community collaboration and crisis support with firefighters law enforcement and emergency service employees exposed to significant trauma. The ideal candidate holds a license to practice therapy advanced training in trauma informed care and a deep understanding of First Responder culture. Candidates with prior experience as a First Responder are strongly preferred.
An additional role in this position may providing services for a wide variety of court ordered forensic evaluations. The responsibilities for the position include obtaining psychosocial information review and summarizing all pertinent legal and medical records and shared report writing. The SW also serves as a second examiner on court ordered evaluations under the supervision of the forensic physician or forensic psychologist.
Full time 40 hours a week. Schedule is Monday Friday hours TBD.
Required Education and Work Experience
Masters Degree in Social Work or counseling from an accredited program. Three years professional social work or counseling experience with focus on providing mental health assessment. Experience in forensic case evaluations is optional. The applicant must demonstrate good communications skills and report writing.
Degree of Supervision
Limited supervision but operates within a clinical team which includes supervision by a clinical director (MD or PhD).
Required Licensures Registrations Certifications
Licensed to practice in South Carolina. LISWCP or LPC licensure/status is required for outpatient clinical services.
