Summary:
Were looking for a methodical and handson Test Engineer to join our engineering team and help establish an accelerated testing capability at PlasmaLeap. This role will play a key part in validating design decisions and ensuring our hardware performs reliably under realworld conditions. Youll take ownership of designing and executing test programs that address mechanical thermal and environmental performance needs across the system. If youre someone who enjoys building structured experiments running handson evaluations and turning data into actionable insights we want to hear from you. This is an ideal role for an engineer who thrives in a fastpaced hardwarefirst environment and wants to contribute directly to the development of nextgeneration industrial systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute structured test programs for both systemlevel prototypes and individual components including test stand operations and realworld usage scenarios.
- Conduct performance evaluations under mechanical thermal and environmental conditions and assess material choices based on durability functionality and practicality.
- Document failure modes edgecase behaviors and degradation mechanisms with clarity.
- Collaborate with the design and prototyping team to ensure material choices align with fabrication and integration needs.
- Maintain accurate records of material specifications batch data and supplier sources to support traceability and internal reviews.
- Communicate results clearly and contribute to design decisions with evidencebased recommendations.
- Follow safe work practices and contribute to maintaining a wellmanaged workspace aligned with WHS guidelines.

- A degree in Materials Science Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A track record of R&D experience in applied materials evaluation preferably in a testingheavy or product development context.
- Strong skills in experimental design critical analysis and structured reporting.
- The ability to manage test workflows independently while maintaining alignment with broader engineering goals.
- A pragmatic and solutionsoriented mindset capable of balancing technical performance with cost and implementation realities.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe organised and compliant working environment in line with WHS expectations.
Preferred Skills / Experience (not essential)
- Familiarity with basic electrical thermal or mechanical property testing relevant to engineering materials.
- Exposure to analytical material characterisation methods (e.g. hardness testing surface analysis thermal profiling).
- Experience working in crossfunctional product development teams.
- Background in component selection and validation within R&D or precommercial settings.
