Job Overview:

We are seeking a detailoriented and experienced Traffic Engineer in Northern CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning designing and improving traffic systems to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles bicycles and pedestrians. You will collaborate with local agencies contractors and other stakeholders to develop traffic studies implement traffic control measures and contribute to infrastructure planning.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct traffic studies analysis and simulations to evaluate current traffic patterns and propose improvements.
  • Design traffic control devices such as signals signs and pavement markings in accordance with MUTCD and local regulations.
  • Prepare traffic impact assessments and reports for new developments.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers city planners and public agencies on transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Utilize modeling software (e.g. Synchro VISSIM HCS AutoCAD) to simulate traffic flows and assess the impact of changes.
  • Assist in the development and review of transportation plans and traffic calming measures.
  • Provide input for construction plans and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Respond to public inquiries and attend community meetings as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze traffic signal operations and timing optimization.
Requirements

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Transportation Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in traffic engineering or transportation planning.
  • Proficiency with traffic analysis and design software (e.g. Synchro VISSIM AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of traffic regulations MUTCD and FHWA guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EngineerinTraining (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with GIS tools and data visualization.
  • Familiarity with Smart Transportation and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

The annual pay range is anticipated to be between $111495 and $135275 (BOE).
