Summary of Duties
As a Coaching and Training Specialist you will:
Provide coaching training and technical assistance at the local branch level to social service staff who directly engage with families involved with Child Welfare in Screening Protective Services Certification and Permanency Work.
Interpret policies for staff and/or notify employees of new or changed policies.
Provide specific consultation on sensitive difficult or complex cases to achieve optimum utilization and integration of the child welfare service plan.
Provide feedback to employees and supervisors regarding employee performance.
Assist with operational guidance related to improving service case practices and to identify appropriate procedures and resources to promote safety wellbeing and permanency.
Participate in audits case reviews program improvement plans and other evaluative processes designed to improve Child Welfare Practice.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelors degree in social work human services or related field AND one year experience with responsibility for child welfare case management (i.e. managing a caseload that involved case planning placement decisions child protection issues or treatment interventions);
OR
A bachelors degree in any field AND two years of experience managing a child welfare caseload that involved case planning placement decisions child protection issues or treatment interventions;
OR
An associate degree in any field AND three years of experience managing a child welfare caseload that involved case planning placement decisions child protection issues or treatment interventions.
Essential Attributes
We are looking for candidates with:
Experience successfully facilitating change coaching and/or mentoring to support and maintain a psychologically safe environment for all.
Experience implementing the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation into daily practice.
Experience with crisis intervention conflict resolution and behavior management.
An understanding of the impact of trauma.
Experience providing coaching to agency staff as needed. This may include accompanying staff to offsite visits and/or within a public location.
Experience working independently to identify problems and successful resolutions.

Working Conditions
Your work will take place in the office and community.
Your typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT.
You will work a professional work week where the hours of work fluctuate on a daily and weekly basis to meet service needs. Occasional compensated overtime may be required to support new caseworkers.
You will have frequent local travel around Deschutes Jefferson and Crook counties. The purpose of travel will be to support new caseworkers.
You will interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
You may encounter situations that require quick decisionmaking to ensure safety of yourself and others.
Background Checks and Requirements
A valid drivers license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship.
