General Summary of Position:
The Assistant Coach of Mens and Womens Track and Field/Cross Country is responsible for leading all aspects of developing and managing a competitive Division I program within the parameters designated by the University America East Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Essential Job Duties:
1. Assist with the oversight of all aspects of studentathlete development and performance of Division I Track and Field/Cross Country program:
Organizing recruitment/evaluation of studentathletes
Conducting and supervising team practices and conditioning sessions
Preparing and implementing individual and team training strategies
Optimizing technology to enhance recruiting scouting and individual performance
Mentoring and providing appropriate leadership direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress and personal development of studentathletes
Creating an environment that supports studentathlete welfare 60%
2. Assist with the management of administrative functions within the intercollegiate Track and Field/Cross Country program:
Participating in conference and NCAA meetings
Adhering to all University Conference and NCAA rules/requirements
Preparing and executing strategic plan for program
Developing competitive competition schedules for each program
Forecasting and managing budget needs relevant to equipment scheduling recruiting travel etc. 20%
3. Provide supervision and direction to the rest of the staff directly associated with program:
Supervising academic progress of the studentathletes
Collaborating with Sports Performance and Athletic Health Care staff 10%
4. Serve as a University Ambassador by:
Engaging in fundraising efforts for program
Representing the Department of Athletics at designated University conference departmental and community functions
Building alumni relationships
Promoting participation and committing to community outreach 10%
Promote the Universitys commitment to customer service by:
Build effective partnerships with coworkers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds nationalities and roles.

1. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
The position requires the ability to travel and to work evenings and weekends.
