You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Dawes Arboretum is actively recruiting a Director of Capital Projects & Planning to join the organizations Leadership team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance this role will be responsible for the overall management and direction of capital projects and site improvements from conceptual planning through postconstruction evaluation.
The Director of Capital Projects & Planning will oversee Arboretum employees as well as subcontractors and consultants.
Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Assist in the development and management of the annual slate of capital projects including scope cost analysis and all related planning and procedural requirements in accordance with The Arboretums strategic goals.
Partner with the Director of Landscape Operations on general site planning and coordination of any capital projects which may have landscape or property impacts.
Oversee contract administration bidding and procurement processes to ensure phased and reliable project implementation. Develop Request for Qualifications and Proposals as well as their subsequent evaluation.
Obtain review and interpret technical environmental economic and legal specifications required for capital projects and site improvements.
Develop and manage project budgets and funding requirements for new and existing capital projects deferred maintenance and repairs site work utilities and/or infrastructure and related lifecycle sustainability.
Create and oversee project schedules provide detailed status reports and communicate accurate forecasting for project progress and execution.
Conduct field visits and assessments on project implementation in addition to postconstruction evaluations.
Manage employees contractors and all onsite labor associated with capital projects and/or site improvements.
Facilitate pay applications review and recommend change orders claims submittals and schedules and monitor related contract compliance.
Assure project work is executed in compliance with current codes applicable regulations safety standards Arboretum policies and property ordinances. Mitigate and manage project risk.

Bachelors degree in construction management architecture engineering or a construction related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Six (6) years of practical handson construction experience; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Three (3) years of demonstrated supervisory experience in a management capacity (crew lead foreman site supervisor etc.); or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Demonstrated ability to thoroughly understand construction and landscape industry practices and procedures. Ability to interpret planning documents specifications and technical drawings.
Strong analytical critical thinking time management and problemsolving skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately.
Keen attention to detail with the ability to produce detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
Experience with AutoCAD project management software and/or experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera preferred.
Project management certification is a plus.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Ability to work evenings and weekends and irregular hours.
Valid drivers license and evidence of insurability.
Ability to pass a preemployment drug screen and background check.

The annual salary range for this position is $88000$93000.
