Summary of Job Duties:

The Orthopedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH) UAMS Healths brandnew surgical hospital is looking for passionate operating room surgical scrub technicians who are ready to join a team thats redefining quality care.

The Surgical Technician will assemble supplies for surgical procedures set up and maintain the sterile field pass surgical instruments and assist in room preparation. This professional nursing role will require the ability to coordinate care the needs for the surgical case the surgeon nurses and other members of the team to provide an optimal outcome for the patient and work collaboratively with clinic providers fellows and staff. Requires the ability to effectively communicate.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School GED or formal educational equivalent.

  • Graduate of an accredited Scrub Technologist school/program OR surgical scrub tech training through military OR 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist.

  • Ability to follow oral instructions read and write

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scrub Tech Certification

  • 1 year Operating room experience (preferred in Orthopedics)

  • Orthopedic experience preferred


    Additional Information:

    Responsibilities:

    • Assessment of the surgical procedure:

    • Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation supplies and equipment for assigned cases.

    • Preparation of the OR.

    • Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases with appropriate equipment available and ready for surgical use.

    • Ensures that the instruments are cleand arranged and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy;

    • Independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits.

    • Ensures that the operating rooms are caseready for the following days cases;

    • Exhibits practical knowledge of OR equipment including maintenance and safety aspects.

    • Professional Performance:

    • Utilizes available communication tools;

    • Demonstrates teamwork by offering assistance to other team members;

    • Shares knowledge information and expertise with other staff;

    • Attends departmental inservices and other educational offerings;

    • Consistently demonstrates new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice.

    • Willing to learn new techniques.

    • With any other duties assigned
