Job Description

Summary:

The Vocal Coach provides individual vocal instruction to students in the Musical Theatre program. The coach works with students to develop healthy vocal techniques expand their vocal range improve their singing for musical theatre repertoire and enhance their performance skills. This position involves providing oneonone weekly lessons.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly onehour individual vocal lessons to assigned students in the Musical Theatre program.
  • Develop personalized vocal exercises and practice plans tailored to each students needs and goals.
  • Teach and reinforce proper vocal techniques including breath control posture resonance articulation and diction.
  • Expand students vocal range and flexibility.
  • Coach students on musical theatre repertoire focusing on style interpretation and character development.
  • Prepare students for auditions performances and other programrelated activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Attend faculty meetings as required.
  • Stay current with developments in vocal pedagogy and musical theatre performance.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Masters of Fine Arts in Music Vocal Performance Musical Theatre or a related field.
  • Significant experience as a vocal coach with a strong track record of success.
  • Extensive knowledge of musical theatre repertoire and vocal techniques.
  • Strong understanding of vocal anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with collegeage students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching vocal techniques at the college level.
  • Active performance experience in musical theatre.
  • Knowledge of vocal health and injury prevention.
  • Membership in professional organizations such as the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
