Assigns and supervises specialists and technicians in all maintenance and repair activities including training staff via subordinate supervision
Supervises schedules and directs activities pertaining to unit maintenance and construction issues
Performs maintenance repairs new construction and preventive maintenance as required
Evaluates schedules and plans maintenancerelated projects to include pricing material lists equipment needs and time frames
Conducts inspections
Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor using basic office equipment/computer
Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and all are accounted for
Attends all training and meetings as scheduled
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
Supervisory principles and management techniques
Structural issues regarding building and utility service systems to include blueprints safety practices and codes
All trades i.e. electrical electronic plumbing HVAC carpentry general building maintenance and preventative maintenance
Budgetary issues including estimating costs and ordering of materials
National and local building codes
Basic computer skills and computer software to create reports charts and conduct research
Skill in:
Written and verbal communication
Coordinating scheduling organizing and assigning maintenance projects
Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs and related repairs
Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
Time management
Ability to:
Instruct use of common and specialized tools equipment materials and preventative maintenance
Reading and interpreting blueprints sketches and schematics
Demonstrate methods and practices for preventative maintenance
Repair remodeling and construction
Work in a prison environment
Onthejob training as a tradesman or one (1) year of experience equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor I
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation drug test and a medical/physical examination.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R210207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
