Job Description

The Division of Infant Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ICAP) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is looking to hire a bilingual Spanishspeaking Clinical Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary team at Child and Adolescent Services (CAS). CAS is an outpatient mental health clinic embedded within the hospital building and colocated on the same floor as the outpatient pediatrics clinics at ZSFG where we receive the majority of our referrals from primary care providers. Clinicians at CAS strive to provide evidencebased culturally sensitive and traumainformed care to youth ages 0 to 21 years of age and their families. We place great emphasis on taking a strengthsbased approach with each family and forming strong therapeutic relationships with our clients. Many of our clients have experienced one or more forms of trauma and often present with various emotional and/or behavioral problems including (but not limited to) anxiety disorders depressive disorders PTSD adjustment disorders eating disorders ADHD specific learning disorders and substance use disorders. Mental health services provided include psychiatric assessments therapy (individual family and group) case management psychological testing and medication evaluation and management.

The Clinical Social Worker I/II position is at 70% FTE within the Child and Adolescent Services (CAS) a Division of Infant Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The purpose of this position is to provide direct clinical service including mental health assessment and treatment to children referred to UCSF ZSFG Department of Psychiatry Child and Adolescent Services. To address the growing demand for mental health services at ZSFG it is essential that the incumbent be able to provide services in Spanish and English. CAS maintains a yearly contract with San Department of Public Health Behavioral Health Services (BHS) and all clients have either MediCal or Healthy San Francisco Insurance and are predominantly lowincome and from culturally diverse backgrounds. The incumbent will use BHS and programmatic assessment tools to complete diagnostic assessments and develop treatment plans for clients/families and will link clients who do not meet medical necessity for intensive mental health interventions to community services and resources that are appropriate for the needs of the child. The position may also include intake coordination (performing initial clinical phone screens for new referrals and documenting efforts into our electronic database) managing the waitlist and improving communication systems with referral sources and direct clinical service (mental health assessments treatment and case management) for children and adolescents referred to the CAS clinic. Clinical Social Worker IIs who are eligible to supervise will also have opportunities to supervise psychology social work and/or marriage and family therapy interns.

The Clinical Social Worker I/II position is also at 30% FTE with the Fuerte program which is a schoolbased prevention program funded through the San Francisco Behavioral Health Services Act to provide prevention and early intervention behavioral health programming to newcomer students in the San Francisco Unified School District. The FTE associated with the Fuerte program will be to coordinate trainings of providers on the Fuerte program.


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $37.56 $50.31 (Hourly Rate).

  • Demonstrated excellent attendance integrity. professionalism reliability and timeliness of paperwork duties
  • Knowledge of the social determinants of health contextual and behavioral health needs of immigrant youth and their families.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)


    • Registration/eligibility to register with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences
    • Experience working in public specialty mental health settings.
    • Experience in providing mental health consultation and/or direct clinical service.
    • Experience with DSM5 diagnoses and providing mental health assessment and treatment to children and youth.
    • Experience working with populations that are culturally diverse in gender sexual orientation language disabilities race and ethnicity.
    • Expertise and knowledge of San Francisco County services and resources for children youth and families and knowledge of coordinated care for the population served through CAS.
    • Expertise in the Fuerte program or similar programming focused on the behavioral health needs of immigrant youth
    • Experience using Epic or similar electronic health records systems.

    The Division of Infant Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ICAP) is comprised of multiple child and familyserving programs including but not limited to the Infant Parent Program Child and Adolescent Services the Family and Community Psychiatry Program and Pediatric Primary Care Behavioral Health Services. In addition clinical research programs are housed within the ICAP division such as the Juvenile Justice Behavioral Health lab (JJBH) and communitybased research projects within the Child and Adolescent Services program. ICAP programs provide outpatient mental health care services to children and youth from birth through age 18 at ZSFG offices and in neighboring community settings serving 1500 unduplicated clients and / or research participants annually.
