Overview
Graduate Land Planner Frisco TX
Westwood Professional Services Inc.
Westwood Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Graduate Land Planner to join our team in our Frisco TX office. The position will work in a collaborative and integrated team of professionals that include landscape architects civil engineers planners surveyors environmental scientists and transportation engineers. The primary responsibilities for the Graduate Land Planner include plan production and technical document creation across the South region for deliverables related to land planning. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing highlevel professional services to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the senior certified planner to build increasing skills to review and interpret regulatory codes ordinances and comprehensive plans.
- Review and analyze land features relating to opportunities constraints and layout options for development.
- Work with the senior certified planner to build increasing skills to prepare due diligence analysis land development concepts master development plans and graphic illustrations using both digital and hand drawn formats.
- Work with senior certified planners to develop and refine design solutions.
- Use in depth knowledge of land planning theory and concepts in preparing land development concepts and master development plans.
- Increasing responsibility to participate in project meetings with staff clients & regulatory agencies.
- Assist in editing technical plans details and specifications.
- Visit construction sites to gather information review design intent inform and support senior project team members during the construction phase.
- Use in depth knowledge of entitlement procedures and required regulatory approvals.
- Ensures division regional and company values policies and practices are consistently followed within the Planning service.
- Lead by example display solid judgment good values trust honesty openness and professionalism.
- Project geographic focus to be mainly in the South region through local office markets but supported by national Planning service team and expertise.
Required Experience
- Fouryear degree in Planning or related field.
- 03 years of professional experience (Masters Degree may substitute for 2 years of experience).
- Computer skills including AutoCAD Sketchup 3DS Max Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop Illustrator Indesign) Microsoft Word MS Excel and Geographic Information System (GIS).
- Strong freehand illustration and computer rendering skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A positive attitude willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Handle multiple priorities well.
- Portfolio or work samples may be required if considered for an interview.
Preferred Experience
- Working toward or desire to gain certification for American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
- Working toward or gained sustainability credential (LEED and/or ENVISION).
