Job Title: Assistant Branch Manager

Department: Retail Operations

Reports to: Branch Officer

FLSA Status: NonExempt

SUMMARY

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the branch in the absence of the Branch Officer. This position supports the overall goals and initiatives of the branch. The Assistant Branch Manager has a strong knowledge of teller operations as well as member service and lending functions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Supervises and directs staff to achieve sales and service goals as well as guides their professional development.
  2. Coaches and develops staff skills. Trains staff on products and services policies and procedures.
  3. Takes initiative to drive sales opportunities in the branch and within the confines of the branch footprint.
  4. Acts as a loan interviewer capable of decisioning all consumer loan types.
  5. Recommends various branch marketing promotions and takes initiative to sell the branch services in the branch and community.
  6. Ensures that branch is open and ready to conduct business each business day. Responsible for recommending periodic maintenance or as needed. Fills the role of the Branch Manager in his/her absence.
  7. Delegates various operational duties to the Head Teller or Tellers but assumes overall administrative responsibility for operating the branch.
  8. Ensures that all security procedures are followed and that all surveillance and alarm systems are fully utilized and maintained.
  9. Regularly attends afterhours and community events to represent the branch in the community.
  10. Works with Branch Manager to strategize branch development and growth.
  11. Exercises discretion and independent judgment in problem solving member service issues.
  12. Performs a variety of account maintenance functions including error corrections and adjustments.
  13. Ensures that the branch balances all transactions at the close of each business day.
  14. Helps tellers to resolve balancing problems and authorizes over/short adjustments.
  15. Fills the teller role in times in times of short staffing in the branch.
  16. Conducts surprise audits as necessary to verify accuracy of tellers balance.
  17. Holds periodic meetings with branch employees on various topics as needed.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school; or three to five years of branch or retail banking experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial products and services sales and salesmanagement techniques and financial banking regulations.
  • Previous supervisor or management experience preferred.
  • Ability to use various technical platforms including Microsoft office (excel word etc.).
  • Ability to work well on teams and independently while keeping internal and external service top of mind.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or schedule form.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to foster strong member and employee relationships.
