Job Description
Job Location: Hahnville LA/Belle Chase LA
Hutco Branch: Harvey LA
Rate of Pay:$25.00
Description:
Directs blast of abrasiveladen compressed air or water against metal or hardenedcomposition objects to remove adhering scale sand paint grease tar rust and dirt and to impart an even finish. Maintains control of blasting hose when in use.
Successfully manipulates safety controls and adjusts controls on equipment to regulate pressure and amount of abrasive blast. Performs minor repairs to blasting pots gaskets switches etc. Applies masking material to protect designated areas from abrasive finish. Performs service and maintenance of blasting equipment both automatic and manual. Outside and inside working conditions with fumes odors and dust.
Other duties include shoveling of grit and / or paint chips sweeping squeezing and / or mopping to remove fine blasting grit powder and / or paint chips blowing or rinsing down the barge to remove residual grit and / or paint chips digging out of barge bays as directed by supervisor installing and / or removing of water pumps and hoses and mending of blasting screens as needed.
