Job Description

Job Summary:

The Regional Safety Representative is responsible accident prevention through intervention and education inspecting company facilities and recommending and implementing corrective actions or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. The Representative will influence incident rates of assigned facilities through auditing and investigating processes in the work environment. In addition the Representative will communicate regulatory & company expectations implements programs and procedures on a regional basis.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with additional specialized/technical training or some college courses required; Degree from an accredited college or university in related field preferred
  • More than one year of experience with an Associates Degree in Occupational Safety; five to eight years of experience required; Experience in a technical or other appropriate occupation related field may substitute for education
  • Track record the reducing site incident rates and communicate safety awareness
  • Strong working knowledge of 29 CFR Part 1910 and 1926 including program specific requirements to include but not limited to respirator confined space electrical fall protection hazard communication and lock out tag out
  • General knowledge of 30 CFR parts 46/47/48/62 & 77
  • Knowledge of Titles 40 & 49 CFR requirements
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA Safety Regulations
  • Knowledge of training methods procedures and techniques
  • Knowledge of accident prevention principles practices and procedures
  • Strong computer skills including data management and presentation and experience in MS Office Suite
  • Vehicle operation and safety testing/monitoring equipment skills
  • Strong investigative analysis skills
  • Data analysis and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing; ability to have a direct influencing discussion keeping with the Holt Vision Values and Mission
  • Training module generation skills that aligns with policies and procedures
  • Ability to multitask in an environment of changing priorities
  • Ability to present oral presentations and training
  • Ability to analyze problems identify alternative solutions project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers management and internal/external customers
  • Ability to analyze the root cause during incident investigations (FMEA Taproot 5 Why) and professional report out

Essential Functions:

  • Models promotes reinforces and rewards the consistent use of HOLTs Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools models and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision Values and Mission
  • Provides onsite inspections in shop and field environments that includes auditing facilities job sites and implements hazard corrective actions; provides followup on hazard corrective actions
  • Reviews and reports on audit results writes safety regulation procedures updates programs and tracks hazard corrective actions to completion
  • Represents the organization during visits with external and internal customers in a variety of meetings to include customer sites and supporting customer audits
  • Provides training modules and facilitates onsite training to technicians and management; ensures followup on training updates/changes in work place environment
  • Performs investigative root cause analysis (RCA) and reports results to appropriate internal/external customers
  • Provides training modules and facilitates facetoface training to technicians and management and ensures follow up on training updates/changes in work place environment
  • Represents the organization to external regulatory agencies (federal state and local) and provide supporting regulatory inspections to appropriate agency
  • Compiles data and information for the analysis of hazard and safety incident trends and helps prepare recommendations for new or modified safety initiatives to reduce or prevent accidents
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies procedures and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Travel:

  • Travel up to 15% with some overnight stay but not limited to twice per month
  • Valid drivers license required; commercial drivers license preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity coordination and stamina
  • Occasionally moves materials and/or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a motor vehicle audiovisual equipment safety testing equipment computer keyboard and basic office equipment
  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders
  • Ability to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual auditory and other signals including alarms and instructions and is required to visually inspect work
  • Subject to sitting standing reaching walking twisting lifting climbing squatting and kneeling to perform the essential functions

Work Environment:

  • Regularly works indoors and occasionally outdoors
  • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather heat cold and humidity
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals steam and highpressure water high speed rotating equipment and contaminants
