Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantages from the Districts curriculum and extracurricular programs. To provide routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety cleanliness and efficiency of school vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent desired

Special Knowledge/Skills: (May be required after hiring)

BCDL license with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Annual physical exam

School bus driver certificate

Minimum Experience:

1 year as a technician or bus driver

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Service fuel maintain wash and clean all school vehicles in the best condition possible.
  2. Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort health and safety of students and staff.
  3. Available to drive routes know stops and is able to maintain time schedule.
  4. Respond to needs related to job responsibilities.
  5. Follow safety codes and standards.
  6. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  7. Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical responsible and serve as role model for all district staff.
  8. Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.

  1. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Fueling servicing and cleaning all equipment

All safety equipment

Vehicles (all district used)

Mental Demands:

Reading; ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy procedures and data.

Ability to concentrate in noisy situations.

Ability to work with children of all ages.

Ability to maintain emotion under stress.

Physical Demands:

Strenuous walking standing bending over. Work outside and inside exposure to dust toxic chemicals and materials slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Work alone. Frequent districtwide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours and possible weekend work. Ability to conduct onsite inspections of all vehicles for safety and maintenance operations.

FISDpays $365a month towards TRS Health Insurance
