Job Summary:
Exposure to animal diseases that may be transmitted to humans. Subject to animal scratches or bites. Exposure to chemicals and pharmaceuticals used in treatment of animals medical waste animal feces urine blood and vomitus. Exposure to hazardous materials such as chemotherapeutic drugs. Loud noises related to small and large animals are routine. Must comply with mandatory rabies preexposure vaccine program.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: High School/GED Two years related experience; or Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with two years related experience; or Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or related area; or DVM degree or equivalent. Experience in restraint of small and large animals administering injections and placement of IV (peripheral central and urinary) catheters is essential. Must have knowledge of equipment used within VTH including but not limited to: personal computer telephone copy machine laser video endoscope diagnostic lab equipment camera/video camera electrodiagnostic equipment etc. Must be physically capable of lifting animals weighing 50 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Must be physically capable of lifting animals onto exam tables and into elevated cages. Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree in veterinary technology Five years experience as a Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA or credentials in a specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition. Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision. Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS).
