Reporting to the Global Vice President Human Resources with a dotted line to the Executive Vice President (EVP) Science & Innovation the Director Human Resources will provide senior Human Resources leadership to the Life Sciences Operations and Innovation the Quality Regulatory Affairs and Research & Development (R&D) organizations and their leadership teams at CooperSurgical. Functions as a member of Global Science & Innovation leadership team and partners with the business leaders to continue to build an effective leadership team and overall organization to support the current and future needs of the business. Serve as a member of the CooperSurgical HR Leadership team and contribute to the HR Strategy in support of Talent Management & Development Organizational Effectiveness Culture and Employee Engagement. Be a true senior level partner to provide efficient HR support to an inclusive diverse and multicultural global workforce. Support the Global VP HR and the HR Leadership Team in the development and establishment of both HR practices and frameworks and work with senior HR colleagues who represent important core HR functions (HRBPs TABPs HR Strategy & Operations CSI HR Shared Support Services and Global Center of Expertise members). Directly manage the HR Business Partner team supporting the life sciences QA & RA organizations. This position also serves as a contributing member to the OneCooper Human Resources Leadership Team. This position can be based in Trumbull CT or Livingston NJ.



Responsibilities
  • Develop a cohesive and achievable HR strategy to support global and functional priorities and our longterm strategy.
  • Support the Science & Innovation business in the achievement of HR strategic goals.
  • Work with the leadership teams to provide sound professional contribution to longterm planning as it relates to functional & Human Resources activities.

Talent Development & Management

  • Develop comprehensive talent strategy for respective client groups.
  • Develop robust succession planning approach for key/critical roles.
  • Understand the development needs of important talent within the organization including backgrounds cultural differences strengths and opportunities.
  • Build a pipeline of talent to ensure a diverse organization.

Culture Engagement & Inclusion

  • Contribute to the development of a collegiate and collaborative culture that ensures geographic and functional boundaries are not barriers to operational excellence and supports the Cooper Values.
  • Sustain performance management processes and ensure the right indicators are in place to measure performance.
  • Communicate organizational change plans and support the roll out of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Embrace and champion a culture of inclusion and diversity.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating our values in all actions.

Core HR

  • Implement HR related programs in collaboration with other HR leaders. Often lead HR related projects with crossfunctional scope.
  • Serve as contact for the Science & Innovation Leadership Team concerning HR activities; draw upon subject matter experts from within the HR department or from outside to ensure HR interventions and to maintain business continuity.
  • Develop a team of HR professionals to deliver creative solutions that add value.
  • Mitigate organizational risk by ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws inclusive of managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Develop meaningful people analytics to guide and shape our decisions.



Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Understand business dynamics and organizational design.
  • Experience building a comprehensive HR strategy in a multilocation operation to meet our needs.
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated success within a multinational organization.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills to include building a strong team.
  • Cross cultural awareness.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Ability to interpret and advise employment law codes from different countries.
  • Ability to assess and analyze learning and development requirements.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication (mainly verbal) skills Influence Persuasion Listening Empathy.

Work Environment:

Office based environment with a reasonable level of travel both nationally and internationally.

10%15% Travel expected some international travel involved.

This position requires the selected candidate to be onsite 5 days per week

Experience:

  • 10 years of HR Experience including multiple years management experience in a medical devices biotechnology or pharmaceutical organization. Experience supporting QA/RA/R&D helpful.
  • Strong business acumen to understand business dynamics and organizational design and impact.
  • Experience of building a comprehensive HR strategy in a multilocation operation to successfully meet global business needs.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree required Masters degree preferred.
